Welcome to the Bath BMD web site, part of the UKBMD group of Family History and Genealogy web sites.
The Register Offices in the county of Bath, England, hold the original records of births, marriages and deaths back to the start of civil registration in 1837.
Independent volunteers, have collaborated with the local Registration Service to make the indexes to these records freely searchable via the Internet.
The database covers Bath and North East Somerset births, marriages and deaths for the years 1837 to 2007. (Marriages will continue to be added as registers are completed.)
The menus at the top give access to all the sections of this web site. To visit all the other web sites which are placing original registrars' indexes on-line click on the UKBMD logo below. UKBMD also has a Multi-Region Search feature which can be used to search several BMD sites in one go if you are not sure of the area that your ancestors were from.

There will be a temporary closure of Regsiter Office strong-room and therefore no ability to process certificate applications (in deposited registers) – we anticipate this will be from Monday 24th June until Monday 9th July. In other words we anticipate the last day we can process an applications will be the Friday 22nd June.
During the closure the public will have to apply directly to the General Register Office/IPS via their certificate service. Obviously, those applying for family history research we can still receive and collate applications and they will be retained until the 9th July, but there will be a longer than normal wait.
